Maintaining your vehicle at home is a satisfying way to keep your motoring costs down. With the right knowledge and products even someone who isn't very mechanically inclined can take care of many of the smaller issues in everyday driving. Sometimes, however, car issues can be too specialized or complex for the average motorist to take care of by themselves and it becomes time to take your car to the pros. Below you'll find three major warning signs that you need to get to a mechanic ASAP, as well as some of the potential causes behind them.
Engine and Drivetrain ProblemsLet's start at the beginning. If your car won't even turn over and start up, then the rest of the problems on this list won't come into play. The simplest cause of this issue is a dead battery, which you can remedy with jumper cables, and the instructions that come printed on their packaging. If jumping the car doesn't work, you may have a larger problem with your ignition system. It's advisable to take your car into the shop at this point because finding the root of the problem will likely involve removing a few parts from your engine. Whether it's dead spark plugs or electrical problems, it's better to have it dealt with by a professional. Likewise, engine surging where the revs rise and fall can mean a problem with your fuel injectors, which are fairly deep within your motor. It's unwise to drive around with a surging engine, as this burns more gas and can cause unintended acceleration. Drivetrain issues are another major issue requiring professional attention. Everybody fears the dreaded transmission repairs, so if certain gears won't engage or they shift at the wrong times you should definitely take your car to the qualified mechanics here at Repair One.
Vibration While DrivingThis issue can be caused by damaged drivetrain components, but can also stem from misaligned wheels or unbalanced or flat tires. If you feel any vibration or shuddering as you drive along, you should get to a mechanic as soon as you can. At its worst, this issue can lessen your control over the car, potentially causing accidents. This will also wear out your tires more quickly than if everything was straight and true. Unwanted vibrations put stress on important (and costly) components like suspension and brakes while decreasing gas mileage, so it's smart to take your car in as soon as these issues develop.
Poor Braking PerformanceYour brakes are vital to keeping you safe on the road and should definitely be cared for by a professional, unless you're absolutely sure you know what you're doing. Common signs of issues with your car's braking system include squeaking or squealing when the brakes are applied, or the brakes feeling spongy and failing to slow your vehicle properly. Squealing brakes are caused by the brake pads wearing through the pad surface to the metal underneath. At this point the metal behind your brake pad is coming into contact with the brake rotor. This can be disastrous and produce unwanted heat, reduced stopping power, and cause you to have to buy new rotors as well as the relatively cheap pads. Spongey and weak brakes can mean there's a problem with your master cylinder, which converts the mechanical pressure of you pressing the pedal into hydraulic pressure to apply the brakes. In either case, it's best to have your brakes seen to by the professional mechanics here at Repair One.
First of all, these guys excel in customer service. Great communication. They make you feel at ease when you walk tru the door, taking away the animosity you would normally have going to a repair shop and handing out the keys. Fair price, very polite professionals. Even a surprisingly efficient shuttle service . What else can you ask for? I took my 2006 Audi TT for what appears to be a transmission problem. Thankfully it wasn't that bad and they were able to fix it quickly and inexpensively. Very good experience!
This is the ONLY place I will take my cars. They have kept my cars running for 7 years and counting.
I will ONLY use RepairOne! After taking my Tahoe to a different place to get a quick inspection, I was told that I had multiple issues that was going to require over 1k in repairs! I took the vehicle to Brent and his guys at repair one and they showed me NOTHING was wrong with my car! They are HONEST and have always treated me fair. Thank you!
I cant tell you how happy I was today with yalls services. Everything from the front desk guy to the driver. They made sure everything was up to my expectations. Ill make sure to suggest ya'll to anyone I know and send em your way. Thank you again today. Cant imagine going anywhere else.
I would highly recommend Repair One. I had a big job done with having to replace the engine in my car. They got me a great price on a new engine, and called me to give me updates along the way. The process was seamless. Their staff is extremely knowledgeable and helpful, and their facility was organized and clean. It is refreshing to find a mechanics shop that I feel like I can trust to provide an excellent product at a great price. Thank you Repair One for making my bad situation a little more bearable.
Been there quite a few times, and each time something new surprises me about their level of professionalism and honesty. This is about the only car place where you hear phrases like: "Your car is still under warranty, you should really have the dealership do this for free." Or "All your fluids look fine." Or my personal favorite, "No charge." Or if they can't get the work done when they promise (wrong parts, etc.), they actually call you as soon as they find out, apologize, and try to make it up to you.
I took my car to get inspected and found out that my car would not pass due to a power steering fluid leak. Jon took the time to check every detail of my car, took me into the garage to physically show me what was wrong and printed estimates for me. I took my car in a few days later, the problem was fixed in less than four hours and Jon graciously informed me about coupons that were available on Repair One's website. I am so happy with the level of commitment, accommodation and generosity Jon displayed. He provided a level of customer service that will make me come back.
H-O-N-E-S-T. That sums up this shop. In a world where everyone is out to get your money, this place actually wants to help you. I 100% recommend this shop to my family, friends, and everyone else. It's where I'd tell my own mother to get her car fixed. They don't try to swindle or take advantage of you. They call before making any other repairs on things they notice while working on your car. They give you options, short term fix, mid fix, long term fix. They are friendly. The place is CLEAN. I've been to many many shops and I've never felt like I was always told the whole truth. I trust Repair One in The Woodlands, TX. Stop looking around, this is the place to go!
I am so happy with my transmission repair from 18 months ago! The service was fabulous and I appreciated be kept in the loop the entire time. They finished the job faster than expected and they told me ahead of time that is what they were trying to do. If I could take all my auto problems like safety recalls there I would! This is how a business should be run! The price for my transmission was more than half off the cheapest dealership and I wasn't able to find a better deal when I was calling around to several shops. I love the fact that this is a family owned business and they truly care about their customers. I knew I was a priority to them and I am happy to have found an car repair place I can trust! Thanks Repair One! I am now a loyal customer and love telling all my friends about this place!
Repair One has been fixing my cars for years. I do not trust mechanics naturally, but I have learned to trust Brent. Examples: (1) I had wear on a part in an older car. It was not hurting anything. Eventually it would wear out and have to be replaced, Brent said, but the car was still driveable. I continued to drive it. It worked fine. (2) I had a leak. I had no idea what it was, but it turned out to be a loose hose. Repair One tightened the hose, charged me nothing, and sent me on my way. (3) I needed major repairs on an older Suburban. The car was not worth a lot. Brent worked with me to find a used part and a fix that would work but was not too costly. The part worked great. Brent puts in only parts that work, and he does not scrimp on quality. Occasionally, Repair One is a bit more expensive for this reason, but then we know the problem is fixed. Once, a seller's warranty provider would only pay for a cheaper part, one Brent did not prefer. He installed it, anyway, but it broke the next week. We then asked him to install the part he preferred. He did, and it worked perfectly, and eventually the warranty provider agreed with us and with Brent and paid for the better part. Brent was on our side the whole time. We have had consistently good experiences.
It's a great feeling knowing we can come to Repair One Automotive and deal with true, honest people. My suburban was dealt with care and I left feeling confident about the service I was provided. Thanks Repair One Automotive!
I always get excellent service at Repair One. Won't go anywhere else to get my car serviced. Very honest and friendly. Had my car serviced Thursday and was in and out of there in no time at all.
